Black Sesame ADAS vision processor ready for production
Visual processor company Black Sesame Technologies Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China) has announced that its HuaShan-2 A1000 autonomous driving chip will enter mass production in 2022.
Black Sesame was founded in 2016 and launched the A1000 chip in June 2020. The Huashan chips have completed the verification against mainstream operating systems in the industry, including Linux, QNX, RT-Thread and WindRiver.

“The Huashan No. 2 A1000 autonomous driving computing chip is fully mature in terms of functional safety, information security, and reliability, and will be mass-produced this year to achieve L2 to L3 autonomous driving functions,” said Johnson Shan, founder, chairman and CEO of Black Sesame.
The chip contains eight processor cores and achieves up to 58TOPS of neural networking performance on INT8 data. This doubles to 116TOPS on INT4 data. Power consumption is less than 8 watts.
The A1000 takes sensor inputs from GPS, IMU, 4K camera, millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic ranging and lidar. The chip is made for Black Sesame by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) using its 16nm FinFET process.
