Capacitive sensing startup raises $24 million in Series B

The company said it would use the money to expand its position in the touch and touchless sensor human-machine interface market.
SigmaSense raised $22 million in a Series A round backed by Foxconn, Corning and Eink in September 2020 (see High-hover touchscreen startup raises Series A). The latest funding brings the total raised by SigmaSense to $52 million. As part of the deal the company has appointed semiconductor veteran Aurelio Fernandez to its board of managers.
SigmaSense’s capacitive full screen sensing technology, together with current-mode ADCs for digitizing data and AI software for interpretation provides for a range of sensing applications in automotive, mobile phones, laptops and digital signage and kiosks.
“I’ve seen many jumps in performance over the years, but seeing a real 100 to 1,000X leap in signal-to-noise ratio will remake and create many new sensing markets in the years to come,” said Fernandez
Fernandez was previously vice president of worldwide sales at Broadcom during three years that saw its sales expand from $35 million to more than $1 billion.
