The annual market for microLED display chips for large-sized displays is expected to be worth $19 million in 2022 and grow sevenfold in 2023 to $139 million, according to TrendForce.
By 2026 the market is expected to reach US$2.7 billion with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 241 percent from 2021 to 2026.
Large-sized displays are a highly anticipated market although the major players are yet to launch mass-produced products. There are still technical and cost bottlenecks that need to be overcome before mass production and commercialization are feasible including improvement of wafer wavelength uniformity, increasing mass transfer production capacity, and improvement of glass backplane metallization yield rate.
Future development trends will include commercial-grade cinema screens and indoor public display screens and consumer-grade TVs focused on home theatres.
