Sondrel opens design office in Morocco

Sondrel’s Morocco engineering team has expertise in verification and physical IC implementation and can provide additional consultancy resources, the company said.
Sondrel had considered several European locations and eventually chose Morocco as the place to expand its verification resources and to complement a design center opening in Xi’an China, said CEO Graham Curren, in a statement.
The company did not say how many engineers are going to be based in Rabat.
STMicroelectronics opened Morocco’s first IC design and software development centre in Rabat in February 2003. A spokesperson for ST said the company closed its design activity in Rabat, with about 40 people in May 2015 and consolidated its Moroccan presence in Bouskoura, at a backend manufacturing site that employs about 3,000 people.
