Ambiq gets Citizen watch design win
Fabless chip company Ambiq Micro Inc. (Austin, Texas), a pioneer of sub-threshold voltage design for power efficiency in microcontrollers, has been designed into smartwatches from Citizen Watch Co. Ltd.

The smartwatches, part of the Riiiver open IoT platform being launched by Citizen, are designed around Apollo MCUs, Ambiq said. The use of Subthreshold Power Optimized Technology (SPOT) by these MCUs allows the smartwatches to have long battery life while acting as a control and communication point for Riiiver services.

The three "i"s in Riiiver stand for "imagine," "inspire," and "innovate" and reflect Citizen's goals for the open IoT platform service.
