Foundries see October's annual sales growth abate
Taiwanese foundries TSMC and UMC both enjoyed annual growth in sales revenues in October but reduced in percentage terms from the strength of September.

The world's leading foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) saw its October sales climb year-on-year by 12.5 percent to NT$127.58 billion (about US$4.46 billion). This was down sequentially by 6.5 percent.

September sales at near neighbour United Microelectronics Corp. were NT$15.28 billion (about US$535 million) up 5.2 percent on the previous month and an increase of 4.8 percent on the same month a year before.

TSMC's sales for the year to date are NT$1,097 billion (about US$38.4 billion) up 27.7 percent on the first ten months of 2019.

UMC is also doing well with annual sales-to-date of NT$146.8 billion (about $5.13 billion), up 21.4 percent on the equivalent period in 2019.
