HCL acquires design service provider Sankalp
HCL Technologies Ltd. (Noida, India) is buying semiconductor design services company Sankalp Semiconductor Ltd. (Bangalore, India) for 180 crore rupees (about US$25.1 million).

Sankalp had revenues of 141.2 crore rupees (about US$19.7 million) in its 2019 financial year. Sankalp will operate as a wholly-owned subisidiary of HCL and the deal is expected to complete in the first week in October.

The deal will allow HCL to add Sankalp's analog and mixed-signal design strength to its digital SoC design, the company said. Sankalp has experience in the automotive, consumer, Internet of Things (IoT), medical electronics, networking and wireless domains.

Sankalp has expanded greatly in the last couple of years opening offices in California, Texas, Canada, Germany and Malaysia.
