The system comprises a MEMS mirror and MEMS driver. It is intended to be used with laser-based scanning systems
The augmented reality applications the microprojector is expected to be sufficiently lightweight to be capable of being integrated into all-day-wear eyeglasses and sports glasses. The power consumption is sufficiently low that small batteries can easily be integrated into the frame, allowing the glasses to be worn conveniently throughout the day.
Infineon is collaborating with TriLite Technologies GmbH (Vienna, Austria) for system integration and the control algorithms that enhance the optical performance of the system. Both companies combine several years of research in optical MEMS and mass manufacturing capabilities.
