The modem is compliant with 3GPP Release 16 and works with an upgraded RF front-end and a millimeter-wave antenna module for enhanced coverage, the QTM547. The QTM547 supports all global mmWave frequencies, including the 41 GHz band.
In addition to the Snapdragon X65, Qualcomm Technologies also announced the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System, a modem-to-antenna solution optimized for mainstream adoption of mobile broadband applications.
The chipset uses artificial intelligence to increase the accuracy in detecting how users are holding a phone. This supports antenna tuning to achieve faster data speeds, better coverage and longer battery life.
For instance, the use of AI increases accuracy in detecting hand grips by 30 percent compared to the previous generation. This improvement supports enhanced antenna tuning capabilities which leads to faster data speeds, better coverage and longer battery life.
Qualcomm is also offering the QET7100 wideband enevelope tracker, which can enable 30 percent better power efficiency compared to average power tracking technology from competitors. It supports full 100 MHz bandwidth for new 5G bands along with support for LTE.

This will fuel the rapid expansion of 5G while enhancing coverage, power efficiency and performance for users. And with extended range, high-power capabilities, Snapdragon X65 and X62 are also at the heart of the expansion of 5G into fixed wireless access and cloud-connected computing opportunities," said Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager, 4G/5G, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Qualcomm has also announced a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) reference design powered by the X65 5G modem. The design offers sub-6GHz support with eight receive antennas for 5G FWA customer-premises equipment suppliers. The platform is expected to be in commercial devices in 1H22.
The Snapdragon X65 and Snapdragon X62 are currently sampling to customers. Qualcomm did
