Texas Instruments stays on top of analog chip ranking
Texas Instruments stayed top vendor of analog ICs in 2019 with almost twice the sales of its nearest competitor, according to IC Insights Inc.

However, the big three European chip companies – Infineon, NXP, and STMicroelectronics – all did well in the 2019 analog chip market in the sense that their sales fell less than those around them.

As a result they took market share from the others and ST climbed from fifth ranked in 2018 to fourth position in 2019 (see ST is big gainer in analog IC vendor ranking). The three companies each gained one percentage point of market share.

The big winner in the ranking was Microchip which increased its analog IC sales by 10 percent. Microchip completed its acquisition of Microsemi in May 2018, which helped provide a boost to full-year analog sales in 2019.

The top-10 suppliers accounted for 62 percent of total analog sales in 2019 up from 60 percent in 2018. So although analog sales contracted in 2019 it is clear there was purchasing consolidation putting a greater proportion of sales towards the top ten.

The 10 largest suppliers of analog ICs collectively accounted for 62% or $34.2 billion of the $55.2 billion analog IC market in 2019.
